Our Girls
We
normally keep between 6 and 10 females. Some will be of breeding age
and some will be young dogs that we are evaluating for temperament and
soundness. Preliminary
tests
for hips, hearts and eyes are conducted at about a year of age and the
final tests are done between 18 and 24 months.
Obedience
training begins when the girls are over 3 months of age and can
continue until they are 3 to 4 years old. As they are ready, we will
put them into obedience trials and conformation shows.
The
standards by which we choose the females that we will breed are high
and so it is inevitable that not all will be kept as breeding females.
Those not retained will go to families that have expressed as interest
in having an older dog. Some of these families will give new homes to
the girls that have finished their careers as mothers.
